Travel

Time for a bit of travel. Cannot decide whether only to go as far as Washington state or go on to Canada. I find Canada a wonderful place for new adventures. If only I could remember where I hid the passport and birth certificate would be off in a flash. Probably need a new passport as I never made the Skinner Sisters trip as anticipated.

Going to join that group for a go at London before too many more seasons pass. Just seems there is always something coming along to distract the happy traveler.

Had a bit of cool off so now low 100's with humidity. Reminds me a bit of the south without the hurricanes. Hope all you stitchers in hurricane path survived without problem.

Where Did You Go?

Where has the Stitching Blogger's Forum Gone? I looked, searched and finally gave up in frustration. Need a new word, used that one too many times.

Heating up in this part of the country. Too hot for anything creative plus the low humidity does not go with my camcorder. Less than 17% humidity do not recommend use. Waiting for delivery of new digital which hopefully does not have such a limitation.

Grandchildren did obligatory stop over. Took them to see Monkeys, train ride and boat ride. Think the train ride with roadrunner coming up for a snack was biggest hit of the day. My money was on the monkeys but what do I know.

Thinking about a short trip to Northern California for a short visit with friends then on to Oregon for some cooler weather.

Photo Failure

Well the attempt to publish a photo here was a total failure. Going to try another run next week after get over learning about Systemworks.
From internet provider big warning notice on opening page.  Get yourself more protection or be infected. Is that not what they are charging high rates to provide? Guess I misunderstood the hype.
If only we could get Earthlink in this area how happy I would be to pay their reasonable charges.
Gripe, Gripe and more Gripes is this soul never happy? Yes the temperature fell to a smouldering 110.

FRUSTRATION AGAIN

Well the frustration level is running high.  Still unable to link photos from Yahoo to this page.  Will keep trying maybe if I read the directions again.
Heat is frying brain so maybe I will have to wait for night cool off.
Lots of activities locally so keeping busy.

That most funny jounalist Molly Ivins has published another book.  Ms. Ivins  uses her Texasisms for fun, laughter and pushing political involvement no matter what your political leaning.  Her plea in the introduction for all of us to take part is especially persuasive.

Testing different typefaces as I heard someone mention they are unable to read blogs in small type on their super screens.
Not sure why type comes up so dark but it is better than tiny type, I guess.
 
Well the picture posting is not going along as anticipated. Using geocities (Yahoo) site to post photo then tried to place proper code. Will check later to see if accomplished goal or need to do more experiments.
 

 

Times Wasting

Just finished chatting with my dear friend Linn. Time does pass so quickly when we only have a few minutes to chat. More fun when we lived closer. Keep up with her acitivities by following her blog and webpage.
 
Only trouble is she keeps finding wonderful ways to spend money.  Not going to return to work so will have to curb temptation to purchase everything she recommends.
 
Ordered a great photo from Cats Paws for a friend. Looking forward to her commments about super boquet.
 
Heat oppressive. Must stop computer generating heat for now.

Checked You Out

Following the directive of Blog Central I checked out all connections to my Blog and found them in working order.

Learned lots of interesting ideas, news and gripes.

One of my favorites was the one about the landlord not being able to keep lease notices sorted. How many times does the corporate idiot spew paper, waste of trees, human effort and risk of death due to high blood pressure. Renter is lucky to leave with her sanity.

Speaking of trees seems the federal govt. wants to take out more of our diminishing forest reserves. Hope you folks in the Northwest get on your local government to prevent another natural disaster.

Back

Air conditioner sprang a leak. So to keep cool during 120 plus heat have stayed away from computer.

Generates lots of heat. Did finish lessons for HP courses. Not totally happy with skills but working on improving.

Anyone want a bit of heat to warm them come on out lots of free hotel rooms.

Linn has been very naughty posting sites for spending money. She is determined we should all return to work for our bad habits.

Heat

Heating up into triple digits daily. Leaves everyone a bit cranky. Noticed new craze for keeping passwords safer. Using USB drives with KeePass so they are not stored on computer but can be carried or stored if necessary.
Why do I never think of these great ideas? Seems worthwhile. Lot safer than depending on software solutions which are hacked before installed.
Looking forward to the 4th of July. Long weekenders will arrive so I can stay indoors, not worry about suffering economy. Maybe finish printing some long over due photos.
Maybe the local theater will have something worth watching in evening. At 10 PM last night still over 100. Ugh.

Company

Had company. So no time for idle chatter. Still recovering. Just added more goodies to wish list after taking look at all HP online courses.

Want a magic tablet, 5 digital cameras and the newest chipset. Guess I will have to go back to work.

New neighbor has talking dart board. Also clangs every time dart hits. Maybe they will learn to keep inside the house after 10PM.

Miss my California trainers. Glad they are home safely even if new form does not admit to loss of luggage.

Funny but more tilted toward adults than children this time around.

Keeping busy trying to select a point and shoot digital for quick shots in small package.

Learning lots about the whole digital subject. Thanks to Libby and B&H Photo have not made any gross errors yet. Probably will before final decision.

What is the code for divider bar? Unable to get in lower portion of sidebar to separate sections. All experiments have failed. Plus book title and author appear in black type rather than in color like rest of links.

Chess for Children

I admit the books reading section is blank. Do you want to admit reading childrens chess books? Been manymany years since I last played chess and decided to start from scratch.

Found some neat sticker books for the kids. Stickers have various Southwest themes however understand there are other varieties available. Appeal to both boys and girls plus educational. Now at $1.50 what a bargain for entertainment and education.

Looking forward to visitors next month. Should be fun showing them around the dirt heaps. Alas the heat is already into the 100's.

Was perusing Floating Needle and wandered over to look at example of tub for boat on canal. No words to describe the size. Takes mathmatical wizard to figure that one out..Su you really know how to utilize space.

Spring

Like spring the best because everything starts to bloom. Folks clean up old stuff from the attic for recycling. Finally get outside to frolic with friends. Know that vacations are more frequent. Going to work at taking lots of photos for processing when the weather of summer makes being outside unbearable.

Installed network card as directed by cable provider. Still no increase in speed. So they lied to help card company make a profit. At least I know that Roadrunner was a great bargain. Guess I will have to move back to the South.

Here comes Easter

Really snuck up on me this year. Local parade reminded me but lost track while sister was here visiting. Truth is I have been busy with Rodeo, computer and just reading. Okay I admit I read in the sports book of local casinos. Not much of a gambler so like to read and observe. Especially like watching horse races. Waiting on delivery of new computer, have to order first, well gosh I keep trying to make up my mind.

Labels

textile labels Linn has discovered where we can send those annoying labels and do something positive for working women. I have added here because I am a believer in supporting workers. Labor is too little appreciated in our society which worships scam artists.

Speaking of labels how about the tech support for my cable modem. They still are unable to get the old system running at top speed. Strange since in South Carolina Roadrunner ran like a turbo charged rabbit on this same setup with less memory.

There is nothing more fun than getting dirt blown in your face at a Rodeo. Today was windy so have more dust on the lens. Will post the picutres later. Going to give hook for yesterdays pictures.

New Computer

Well the olde one is about to go into hyper drive. Seems everyday it develops some new problem. Yes it needs a reformat. Problem what if I goof up. My life on the internet would be damaged until arrival of new unit.
This is the big day. Must make final decision on what should be installed and place order. Thanks to Libby I at least have good information on what needs to be installed. Wish list exceeds budget so will go for best I can afford. Last time I was cheap and paying for now.

Dragon is Back

Thanks to whoever restored that handsome dragon. He adds a bit of class to my otherwise dull Blog.
Linn was away so Libby was forced to rag me about new computer. Going to the big city on Thursday to fetch sister. Thus will either come home with a new machine or have one on order. Want a flat screen too but we shall see if the budget can handle my entire wish list. Thinking about wireless mouse and keyboard but not sure ecologically sound. Understand they eat batteries. Just saw specs on new Olympus C60 zoom more temptation for the weak of spirit.
Spring has arrived with triple digit temps. 107 yesterday in our little part of the universe. Who says there is no global warming?

Cable Bust

Opted for high speed cable couple of weeks ago. So far not working as advertised. Another aggravation. Java will not run the speed check. First the page was down now it dumps me off.

Computer Blues

Well once again the stupid computer has taken more than 12 hours from my life. First it would not load at all then for some unknown reason decided to load with my external drive listed as my printers card slot. At least I am temporarily online which seems some accomplishment. Probably not last long so hasten to my favorite spots.
Cats enjoyed having a new companion to torture but are now stuck with my cursing for entertainment.
Does anyone know how to get drives reset to correct letter?

Rainy Day Friends

Old school chum is lots of fun. Just proves great artists do make superior friends. Not artistic myself but manage to surround myself with talented friends. Don't mind winding bobbins or holding paint for the creative.
Internet has only increased my wealth of artistic friends and I do enjoy art.

It is not what you know BUT WHO YOUR FRIENDS ARE THAT COUNTS!

Once again I have been rescued by Linn and her good friend Su. After many fruitless attempts to put coments on page Linn hooked me up with SU. (California to England to Nevada) is what the internet is all about. Feel I have made a new friend. The universe is truly a gentle place.
Going to the big city in the morning to fetch an old elementary school friend for a short visit. Well I am going to look at computers and flat screens along the way.

Finished reading my friends family history. Well not all but one chapter. Just proves we never know anyone. The volume of work involved was amazing just to create one chapter. Look forward to reading her book in full.

Those Mars photos are really something. Sorry I will not live long enough to travel in space as I do enjoy the travel. Speaking of which Linn is taking another group, along with Libby, to Londond in the fall. Maybe this time I will be along. Could not stitch a lick but love those libraries.

REBATE SHEET

Having returned from crossing the river we find: there is an additional rebate form which office max offers. Now the checkout person is to put this form in with your purchase - beware! - most of the checkers do not pay attention. Another lesson learned the hard way.
Been checking out the blogs which can be reached through the Embroideress. Some very savy folks. I have learned a great deal about blackwork, embroidery, knitting and other subjects.

Rebates

Office Max has a new catch to their buy it and get it free after rebate. Search the book and there is no rebate form. Search their website there is no rebate form. Have to go back across the river tomorrow and see if they can show us the correct form. Probably end up returning product as I have good eyesight and a magnifying glass with same result. Moral - check the rebate booklet before you leave the store.

Sunshine

Feel so lucky to be living in the sunshine. Remember those cold winters and feel for the folks in the East.
Reading some books to tweak my political conscience. Not aware the Bush family related to English kings on both Mother and Father side. Have a British ruler with all the kings and queens so gives me something to ponder.
Pick for the Superbowl? Want the Eagles but suspect Patriots will make Las Vegas bookies dreams come true.
Still working on getting a handle on sidebar.

Simple?

Why do I not learn when someone says simple it means simple after a learning curve of months? Eternal optimist I am not. Checking out books at the library to make this simple setup clear.
Spent the last few days cursing my security system. Some good soul called in the middle of download and now the whole setup is tossing everything into the dumpster. Better luck next time. Have learned not to download during calling hours.
